I write for the last time and to say a
farewell to the folks of Portknockie. My family and I are moving
to Wishaw near Glasgow at the beginning of July to take up a new
charge. I have enjoyed my time in this part of the country but
it’s time to be moving on. We do feel that this is God’s
calling but we leave with some very happy memories and for the
benefit of the K’nocker readers I will share one or two of them
that are relevant to Portknockie. First and foremost is my
congregation – a great bunch of people.
They
have been patient and gentle with me and have been a great
support throughout the years. Then there is the Sunday School,
Thursday Club and the Primary school. The kids here are great
and I have had some great laughs with them. They have helped me
to see the funny side and the simpler things in the Christian
faith. The occasion of the re-installation of the
Portknockie Coat of Arms was a great event and
the memorable sermon by my reader Stuart Mackenzie was
excellent. It was a real honour for me to be involved.
